Aims
This module aims to develop students’ appreciation of the roles, perspectives and functions associated with Human Resource Management in contemporary organisations.
Learning outcomes 
A. Discuss the theories and concepts of HRM and comprehend the strategic role that HRM plays within the organisation;

B. Recognise the activities, functions and roles related to Human Resource Management in a variety of organisational contexts and explain the rationale and implication of this;

C. Outline and explain the implication of ethics in Human Resource Management processes and its links to organisational strategy and HR policies;

D. Discuss the human resource planning, recruitment and selection process in relation to organisational success criteria and the legal framework in which it operates;

E. Outline the main objectives and features of the employee reward, development and performance management functions in organisations and the factors that impact upon them;

F. Explain the factors affecting the employment relationship and the framework that exists to manage and support this relationship;
Method of teaching and learning 
This module will use multiple approaches to teaching including formal lectures, tutorial discussions, and case studies. Additionally, students will be encouraged to engage with HRM as it is perceived and applied in the world outside of the classroom, including reflections on their own experience of work and organisations.
