Aims
This module aims to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of the fundamental aspects of finance-related decision making in an uncertain environment, allowing for the possible synchronic or diachronic incidence of risk. Individual risk linked behaviour will be related to symmetric and asymmetric imperfect information scenarios. In this context, individual or circumscribed group behaviour is be related to both an aggregate and institutional context.
Learning outcomes 
A. demonstrate an appreciation of the core aspects of finance-related decision making under uncertainty;

B. relate aspects of optimising and decision making behaviour to scenarios of decision making under uncertainty;

C. interpret and critically evaluate finance-related problems in an institutional context.





Method of teaching and learning 
The module will be delivered through a combination of lectures and seminars. Lectures will be used to introduce key theories, concepts and economic models. In seminars the student will have the opportunity to solve financial problems and numerical exercises, to analyse case studies, and to make presentations of research.
